Kelvin Belated & Cyril Early Celebration

Seven nightclub is a nice place to party - the reasons behind are nothing drastically to other clubs. Everyone has their own way of enjoying in a party, out of many I have asked, some enjoy because…
· They are with close friends which means any nightclubs will be the same for them
· The music in a particular club is suitable for them
· The environment is nice
· It’s the trend to go to that club
· They enjoyed lining up the longest queue out in the cold Melbourne which make them super cool~ (Okay I made this up)

I enjoy in ‘Seven’ because I get to talk to everyone when I was high. Apparently, ‘Seven’ is the one of the famous club that most of my friends go. Ask me about the music – I’ll tell you it's very nice but I’m lying because I really pay no attention on that area. Listening to music makes me feel like dancing and I’m not a good dancer at all so I scrapped that idea off and narrow down my joy to alcohol, chit chatters and some man’s business!

Friday (22/08) is Cyril’s and Kelvin’s birthday celebration in ‘Seven’ and most of the time I’m just talking around and buying drinks from the bar. Apart from overspending that night, I talked like no one’s business – just like I have never spoke before in my life.

So when I was in the club, I wish Cyril and Kelvin happy birthday and the conversation is like…

Kieny: Hey Cyril Happy Birthday!
Cyril: Thank you… Thank you… But my birthday not today leh, it's 27/08…
Kieny: Oh okay then Happy Early Birthday!

Kieny: Hey Kelvin Happy Birthday again!
Kelvin: Thank you… Thank you… Yeah lor, my Birthday is on Tuesday…
Kieny: Oh okay then Happy Belated Birthday!

Nowadays, Birthdays are complicated!

Kelvin’s SteakOut Birthday

The Man . SteakOut Melbourne by Kieny How, on Flickr

Tuesday (20/08) was Kelvin’s birthday – I know Kelvin when I was doing my diploma in Kuala Lumpur College KDU, and coincidently met him in Melbourne a few years later when I was doing my degree. For a brief introduction, he is a guy who named his car plate as ‘MRNICE’ (very self-explanatory) and I’ll name my car ‘MRCURIOUS’ because whenever I see him, I’ll try to find out how nice he is by asking him to drive me home (I’m evil) which is very far and inconvenient – so I still end up taking train home myself all the time, poor me. Anyway, that doesn’t mean he don’t live up to that name, it’s all for the fun of it.

So during his birthday, we treated MRNICE to SteakOut restaurant in Crown which I didn’t really enjoy it since the restaurant is noisy and busy, the waiter/waitress are too busy that they can’t even help us to take a proper group photo.

SteakOut T-Bone . SteakOut Melbourne by Kieny How, on Flickr

I ordered a T-Bone medium rare with Mushroom sauce.

It looks nice and I got excited for a while before I realized that it was thick with tough tendon bands in between making it harder to eat, so I basically fought with the steak - for the whole dinner chewing the tough meat along with the weird tasted mushroom sauce.

I’m not saying that SteakOut is not the place to go because some others did enjoy the food there, maybe I’ll enjoy it better if I ordered medium well and not medium rare. So I think I’ll go back again next time~

Lamb Chops – I tried some and it sucks, it’s like eating someone’s chewed gum!

But this is nice… Scrumptious Long Long MRNICE’s Sausage~

And the Sweet Corn

For those who want to leave the steak out, they have some other non-beef menus like pork ribs – MRNICE enjoyed his 800g beef ribs for his lovely birthday. The ribs looks so delectable, I should have ordered that! Damn~

For my 2008 birthday celebration, I did:

· Sunday 09/03/08: BBQ at Melbourne Alexandra Park (Afternoon) & Karaoke in KBox (Night)
· Monday & Tuesday 10-11/03/08: Sumptuous Birthday Dinners

Youngsters nowadays live life to the fullest, birth’day’ is not enough, they do birth’week’ instead. So MRNICE decided to extend his birthday celebration on the coming weekend in a club to make sure he doesn’t miss anyone!

So after the dinner, Happy Birthday MRNICE! Then I went home…

Bistro Vue

Random . Bistro Vue Melbourne by Kieny How, on Flickr

People! It’s FRIDAY!! I rushed home to make a quick post just to greet all of you before I’m off for my home-away weekend!!! I’m missing post in here as I couldn’t find chance to write this week - work (needless to say), birthday/farewell/catch-up dinners. I feel like a social butterfly this week but of course, the restless type~

Weeks ago, I went to a French cuisine as I mentioned previously. Bistro Vue is an extended bistro franchise by Vue De Monde (one of the top glamorous and expensive restaurant in Melbourne) with quality service – the waiter who speaks English in sexy French accent will serve a requested piece of tissue in a nice box with a platinum tray, makes you almost royalty~

Regardless the services, alcohol are the ones that I enjoyed most!

Wine Rack . Bistro Vue Melbourne by Kieny How, on Flickr

First: They have Kronenbourg 1664 beer!!!! When I first arrived, that was the first thing that excites me. Lots of bars and places used to sell Kronenbourg draft but they seem to stop stocking up for some reasons which turn off my incentives to go bar nowadays. So, before I even had my meal that day, I decided to have that beer as my last order – saving the best to the last!! *grin*

Second: The white Chateau Thieuley Blanc from France that I ordered once I sat down – smooth and not so sweet. Highly recommended for starting off the kick!!

Most of our food was quite delicated. I realized they doesn’t include any main course in the menu as it only include ‘HORS D’OEUVRES’ aka appetizers and entrees, there’re probably some reasons behind fine dining which I don’t know…

I was quite excited when I know I’m going to eat rabbit meat but the result was disappointing!

Here are the awesome photos of the food~!

White Weekend – Falls Creek

Falls Creek Snow
Weekend is great with snow everywhere!! It’s my first time that I’ve seen flakes of snow falling off the sky with a gentle breeze giving off a comfy feeling and it’s beautiful when the ground is covered by the snow all over the mountain.

I should bring some ingredients and make some Ice Kacang!!!!
Ice Kacang
Definitely taste better than this one!

Falls Creek is said to have the best snow in Australia with the biggest ski resort around Victoria, which also mean that it’s the best place for noob newbie skier/snowboarder like me to leave the mountain in one piece after ample of crashes around the ski tracks.
Freshness . Falls Creek Australia by Kieny How, on Flickr
And again, since they have the best snow, the top layer of the ground makes comfortable soft snow-bed on the tracks which allows you to make ridiculers crashes with the least amount of impact!

Usually a person who does snowboard in the first place wouldn’t learn ski because mastering both is too troublesome. As for me, I think people with snowboard are really cool so that’s the main reason I went for it and I suffered miserably – I ended up with all kind of crashes like flying up high and smashing my face hard onto the snowy ground several times which I find is not very cool at all after a while. Even though I went for Falls Creek beginner snowboard lesson and have a great Snowboard Pro to teach me how to do all the basics, I still fail to finish a track without falling regardless how easy the track is. In the end, I only managed to learn Falling Leaf (Basic) and able to ride a distance with regular but couldn’t control goofy at all.

So after that, during the next day (Sunday)…
Pro+Noob . Falls Creek Australia by Kieny How, on Flickr
TADA! I changed to Ski!! Hoho…
With the Pros . Falls Creek Australia by Kieny How, on Flickr

Kim . Kenny . Myself . Ding

Ski is easier, the two ‘K’ ski pro – Kim and Kenny taught me how to do all the basics and I managed to finish some easier tracks without falling – didn’t even attend any lesson!! And I’m less tired at the end of Sunday but my whole body has already soar like a blardy pig from the aftermath of snowboarding~

So over the weekend, I…

• Managed to learn the basics of both Snowboard and Ski
• Got myself 3 pro teachers – Fil (Snowboard) . Kim (Ski) . Kenny (Ski)
• Prefer Snowboarding than Ski eventhough I’m better with Ski
• Decided to pursue Snowboarding as one of my sport
• Made a promise to myself that I’m going to ride on the track without falling and with a bottle a beer!

When I was taking the snowboard lesson, the instructor told me that snowboard is easier to master but ski is easier to pick up which is true. But from my say - snowboard rocks! and ski is boring~ so I decide to hug on with snowboard…

WoooHooo~

Apparantly Falls Creek have this MILO Children Program which teaches kids at age around 3-5 yo to ski…
MILO Kids
Don’t play play with them… they play soccer on the snow wearing the ski equipment!! And they can smoke a lot of people on the track during a run!!!! MILO RULEZ!~!

We took heaps of photos during the trip and everyone looks like terrorist with the ski jackets and pants…

Falls Creek is really big! For 2 days, I only managed to complete those tracks that I’ve highlighted in orange… The red big dot with ‘Start’ is our accomodation place… (Click here to Enlarge)

Overall everyone had fun – the apartment is comfortable, snow is great, everyone are fun and most important – the food is not bad at all~

I’m satisfied!

This is what happen when we parked the car for 2 days on the mountain… Nice isn’t it?
Snowed Car . Falls Creek Australia by Kieny How, on Flickr
And then we have to chain the tires for more friction in order to drive on the snow ~
Chained Tyre . Falls Creek Australia by Kieny How, on Flickr
The weather was pretty bad away from the mountain, up the mountain was snowing and down the mountain – there’s blizzard going on, this tiny chain was helpful…

I’ll be looking forward to another Ski-Trip!!
